Processing path
Cleanup & Edge Prep
Preview pipeline only — original file is unchanged.
Background
Flattens backdrop so separations ignore garment/paper color.
Cleanup & raster prep
Removes tiny ink speckles (not whole-image blur), can fill small interior holes, then expands edges to reduce halos.
Helps hairlines and small type survive when the image is soft.
Suppresses grain and JPEG speckle so the trace does not chase noise.
Slightly thickens ink regions to reduce gaps between colors.
How far to grow edges when “Strengthen edges” is on.
Edge cleanup recommended
Applied together with Apply Cleanup when enabled.
Simplify Colors
Merge and lock colors before trace.
Original colors (detected)
Final trace colors
File metadata and SVG heuristics.
Halftone & ink separation
Build a Pantone-oriented ink set from artwork colors, preview halftone layers, then save and open Print Separations.
Ink system builder
Colors are grouped by hue and weighted by pixel coverage. Refine screen count below, then Rebuild ink set.
Screens & halftone
6 4Halftone preview & tradeoff
Simulated stack uses mix-blend-mode: multiply over paper. Compare to original for tone/color loss.
Prepare Artwork
Live Preview is on the right when Bring in Artwork is active.
Original colors — merge before tracing
Merging updates the palette sent to the trace worker (quantization uses these colors only).
Left = First Print → Right = Last Print
Phase 1 — Merged colors (print order)
Drag swatches to reorder. Advanced trapping and underbase are in the Color Layering step.
Color Layering
Underbase, print order swatches, and per-layer trap. Reorder merged colors below; then save print settings.
Size + Position
Page size, orientation, placement, and crop marks. Use Print Separations for the full placement UI until this step is expanded.
Placement and page controls live in the separations workspace (embedded in step 5) for PDF export.
Print Separations
Plate preview, overprint mode, and export to PDF.
